Tenants at Public Storage at the 6801 Santa Monica, CA location have been experiencing unreasonable rental fees increase and fraud auctions.
Meredith Chambers claims she came to the 6801 Santa Monica Bl, West Hollywood, CA location last June to purchase a unit prior to relocating from Las Vegas,NV over the phone Sparefoot told her they accepted deliveries.
She travelled to California from Las Vegas to pay for her storage in advance because she said they told her she had to handle the paperwork in person after reserving online.
She went back and got her property and it shipped next day by OnTrac and specifically asked the driver to deliver at a certain time but the driver for the West Hollywood region came three hours early and the Public Storage employees refused the delivery and OnTrac sent Meredith 27 boxes back supposedly.
She never recovered the 27 shipped boxes but the front desk agent said boxes were in the back. Meredith had to file a police report for the 27 missing boxes.
She also discovered when calling OnTrac that her account was cancelled and closed and she has never used their service before.
The truck that came to the Public Storage facility wasn't an OnTrac white truck but a yellow graffiti truck that the Public Storage employees knew.
Meredith had only four boxes from a previous delivery delivered but her four digital cameras we're not in the boxes which were in bad condition when arrived.
Public Storage recently has a dispute with Meredith for increase fees without notice by mail certified or uncertified, by email, phone or in person payments. They recently sent her an auction letter that basically was a threat to auction property.
But the letter sent uncertified by mail was a template which didn't have a signature of an authorized personnel to conduct an auction. Nor did they published a date and time and unit number of an auction to take place in the local newspaper or by certified or uncertified mail, email or by phone or advertisement on West Hollywood Cable Access or Cable TV storage auctions. The staff at Public Storage contacted a friend Meredith had on file to reach in an emergency regarding payments but never once called her directly, sent her an email or letter by mail certified or uncertified.
Meredith never received a month-to-month lease for the unit she rented in person or email or by certified or uncertified mail from Public Storage in West Hollywood at 6801 Santa Monica Blvd, nor an eviction notice for rental tenancy notice to quit prior the auction. When Meredith contacted there local number (323) 391-3958 at Public Storage in West Hollywood they claim she was calling Arizona.
They never gave a letter or notice to come pickup personal documents such as Notary Public Journal, notary stamp, and documents or contracts, passports and birth certificates that they auction to an unknown party who they claim they cannot release the information of inorder to retrieve these personal documents.
The staff is all Mexican with one African-American. Meredith has never missed a payment she said the elevators never work and you get stuck on the floors. The elevators have no ventilation and their advertisement of opening at 9 am is not true they open at 9:30 am.
She is suing for damages from both Public Storage and OnTrac because the employees gave access to Clutter and other renters their unit and allow them to access and deliver their property but refused hers supposedly according to the OnTrac driver who refused to return to deliver her 27 boxes.
